Diamond gift for dementia
An award-winning Salvation Army day centre for older people in Glasgow is celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by holding a party in its ‘reminiscence room’ – to help those with dementia. The reminiscence room at the Eva Burrows Day Centre is filled with objects to trigger the senses and aid the recall of memories. Reminiscence based activities have been found to help people with dementia communicate and gain a sense of value, importance, belonging, power and peace.
