Meet the leadership team

Songster Leader Dorothy Nancekievill

Dorothy Nancekievill (HON RAM) is the leader of the International Staff Songsters and has served in this role 2003. She grew up in Glasgow and attended Paisley, Parkhead and Govan Corps. As a student she attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Glasgow University. Post-graduate study then took Dorothy to the South West of England and Bristol Easton Corps. After six years at Bromley Temple Corps, Dorothy returned to worshipping at Bristol Easton Corps.

Dorothy has had a long professional career in education, most recently as Head of Farringtons School in Kent and previously as Director of Music at Wells Cathedral School. During her time at Wells, Dorothy's contribution to music education was acknowledged with the award of an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. She is currently a governor at Wells Cathedral and Kingswood School and a consultant appraiser for academic leaders.

Dorothy’s motivation is that the ISS should excite and comfort their listeners, in times of joy and sadness. She is committed to ensuring the ISS continue to sing 'heart songs' that challenge, inspire and encourage.

Executive Officer Lieut-Colonel Jayne Roberts

The ISS is delighted to be supported by Jayne, who is the Territorial Secretary for Spiritual Life Development for The Salvation Army's UK and Ireland Territory. Her role includes teaching at various events, including the Brengle Institute and working closely with The Salvation Army's prayer network. 

Jayne has been a Salvation Army officer for more than 39 years and is married to Jonathan, who is the Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army in Wales. They have served as corps officers at Caterham, Plumstead, Cwmbran and Cardiff Canton and in divisional leadership in East Midlands. 

Jayne's service at IHQ as Editor of The Salvation Army Year Book and was followed personnel work in East Scotland. She was the  Assistant Chief Secretary before taking up her current role in July 2018.
