I think I am the person sought. What next?
We understand that sometimes our correspondence was unexpected, and you might feel unsure about being in touch with someone after a period out of contact.
Your caseworker will help you to confirm whether you are the person we are searching for, and give you the opportunity to learn more about identity of the person sought, and the reasons they gave for making the application.
If you would like to be in touch with your relative, your caseworker will explain your options. If you have any hesitation about being in direct contact in the first instance, we could facilitate this by sending letters from your relative via our office, while keeping your details confidential.
If, for whatever reason, you would prefer not to have contact with your relative, please do let us know, so that we can discontinue our search, and inform them of your decision. Your wishes are very important to us and will be respected.
In some cases, our correspondence may have been forwarded to you without our being informed of your address. If this is the case, and you wish us to know how to reach you, please do include your contact details in your response.
We look forward to assisting you.
