However - the truth is that we are all imperfect, broken people, 

aware of our weakness and sinfulness, and our need for God's mercy and help!

In this church we strive to know God better, trust His Word, and encourage one another

so that we can joyfully tell others about Jesus; the Saviour who we all need!

We try to do this, in part, through our Sunday services which are:

• Musical
• Prayerful
• Thought-provoking
• Joyful 
• ...followed by refreshments :-)

..and you would be very welcome to give us a try!

The Salvation Army is a Christian Church

Its message and the lifestyle it advocates are based on the Bible's teaching. Its work is to make known the good news about Jesus Christ and to persuade people to become his followers.

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice.

We believe that there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship.

We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead – the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory.

We believe that in the person of Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united, so that He is truly and properly God and truly and properly man.

We believe that our first parents were created in a state of innocency, but by their disobedience they lost their purity and happiness, and that in consequence of their fall all men have become sinners, totally depraved, and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has by His suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved.

We believe that repentance towards God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit, are necessary to salvation.

We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and that he that believeth hath the witness in himself.

We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.

We believe that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified, and that their whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked.

The Salvation Army has a wonderful musical tradition that the public greatly enjoy, from playing Christmas carols, accompanying the Remembrance day and Easter outdoor events, or each week in our Sunday services.

In addition to accompanying congregational songs and hymns, the brass band contributes a wide range of pieces from its ever-increasing repertoire – both quietly meditative and the joyfully foot tapping variety!

We also have a Community Gospel Choir, which is open to everyone, no dress-code, no age restrictions; quite simply, if you enjoy singing, then come and sing with us. Get in touch for monthly rehearsal dates...

You would be most welcome to come and listen as our music sections rehearse, or be brave and join in!..

First and foremost The Salvation Army is a Christian church, and our mission priority is to tell people about our need of eternal salvation - our need for trusting Jesus.

However, we are also a charity, and we work hard to assist those in deepest need within the community.  We work closely with partner agencies as well as helping people who come  directly to our doors.  At Christmas time we have a Community Appeal which enables us to distribute many food and toy parcels to local families in need, as well as offering a Christmas Day meal and good company for those who would otherwise be on their own or struggling to cope.

Many have benefited from practical help all year round and we are reliant upon our local community for their generosity which enables us to reach so many, and we are extremely grateful - THANK YOU!
