Recycle with Michael is a school and youth group recycling scheme that raises money for your organisation, supports charity, and helps plant trees across the UK.

When you sign up, there’s no long-term commitment or contract – it’s completely up to you how often you’d like to get involved.

For each donation day you organise, we’ll send you branded Recycle with Michael collection bags for pupils to fill with their unwanted clothes and shoes. After collection, you’ll receive a report showing how much you’ve donated, along with a certificate to proudly display at your school.

The money raised is split 50/50 between The Salvation Army and your school.

What You’ll Receive

  • A pack of branded Recycle with Michael bags
  • 50% income share (or the option to plant a tree via the National Forest)
  • BACS payment directly to your school or PTA
  • Agreed collection date with a SATCoL collector
  • A certificate showing volumes donated and funds raised
  • Optional social media coverage

New: Help Plant Trees with National Forest

We now offer schools the option to plant a tree instead of receiving a 50% share. Thanks to our new partnership with the National Forest, your donations can fund tree planting at sites in Leicestershire, Derbyshire, or Staffordshire – a great way to inspire pupils and support a greener future.

We’re helping to divert more clothes from landfill and giving them a new lease of life.
One of the clothing banks is located at Romanby Primary School in Northallerton where governor and Hambleton’s Head of Environment, Paul Staines said the children were keen to recycle.

He said: “Textiles are the UK’s fastest growing household waste stream and people sometimes forget that it’s just as important to recycle your old clothes as some of the more obvious items like newspapers and bottles.”

Paul Staines added: “Through this scheme we’re helping to divert more clothes from landfill and giving them a new lease of life, whilst raising money for both the school and The Salvation Army, which does such important work in communities throughout the UK.”
