Toy Run for The Salvation Army in Newark
published on 1 Dec 2025
Newark was alive with the sound of roaring engines, cheering crowds, and Christmas spirit as more than 250 bikers rolled into Balderton, delivering gifts for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal. Now in its 16th year, the annual Toy Run transformed the town on Sunday 30 November, offering a dazzling display of generosity and community warmth.
This year’s ride was especially touching as riders of all ages took part, from teenagers on 125s to grandparents on touring bikes, and even whole families riding in formation.
The Toy Run has quickly become one of the most beloved events in the community’s festive calendar, with local leaders, businesses, and families also showing up.
John Judson who began the toy-ride 16 years ago, was also present. He said: “It was just 17 bikers 16 years ago. Now it’s massive. More important is the difference it makes to children who would have gone without gifts. It feels quite humbling.”
New biker leader, Mark Spindley said, “This is a huge privilege. And seeing everyone who turned up speaks to love and compassion. I must also add that this is fun, for us the riders, and for the community.”
Last minute gifts items are still being collected (every donation stays local).
