Shoppers can now buy a new George at Asda t-shirt with a portion of the proceeds from its sale going to The Salvation Army’s Ukraine Crisis Response Appeal.

The t-shirt with the slogan  “Where There Is Love, There Is Hope” is available at more than 600 Asda stores across the UK for £8 and will be advertised on its in-store radio.

Esther Theodore, Head of Philanthropy at The Salvation Army, said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with ASDA and incredibly grateful that a portion of the profits from the sales of this t-shirt will help people affected by the crisis in Ukraine.

“The Salvation Army is active in Ukraine and across Europe, delivering essential provisions including food, water, medical supplies and blankets, and is committed to assist for as long as it takes. The profits from the sale of the t-shirts will undoubtedly help many extremely vulnerable people in desperate need of support.”

Georgia Makin, Buying Manager for George, Asda’s clothing chain, said: “We’re extremely proud to be partnering with The Salvation Army to support the people affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. We firmly believe in our slogan that “Where There Is Love, There Is Hope”, and are pleased that a portion of the proceeds from the sales of this t-shirt will help those who are currently in need.”

The supermarket giant and SATCOL, The Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd,  already work together on a clothing collection programme. Customers are encouraged to recycle unwanted items which might otherwise end up in landfill, and the partnership has generated significant funds for The Salvation Army.
