Oldbury Salvation Army invites community to a free afternoon of family fun

published on 11 Aug 2026

Families across Oldbury are being invited to enjoy a free afternoon packed with games, crafts and activities as The Salvation Army hosts its Community Fun Day this summer.

Taking place on Friday 14 August from 1pm to 4pm at The Salvation Army, Merton Close, Oldbury, B68 8NG, the event promises something for everyone, with fun activities for children, young people and adults, alongside refreshments served throughout the afternoon.

The free event has been designed to bring local people together during the school holidays, offering families an opportunity to spend quality time together, meet new people and enjoy a welcoming community atmosphere. Whether families stay for the whole afternoon or simply drop in, organisers hope the event will provide a relaxed space where neighbours can connect, children can play and everyone can enjoy the spirit of community.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of games, creative craft activities and entertainment suitable for all ages.

Deborah Hampton, church leader of the Salvation Army in Oldbury, says: " Our Community Fun Day is all about opening our doors and creating a place where everyone feels welcome. We know that the summer holidays can be an expensive time for many families, so we're delighted to offer a free afternoon where children can have fun, parents can relax and neighbours can spend time together."

Alongside the entertainment, free refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to pause, chat and get to know members of the local community. The event is free to attend, and no booking is required.

The Salvation Army in Oldbury offers a variety of community activities throughout the week, providing a safe, welcoming space for families, young people, and individuals of all ages. For more information on activities from The Salvation Army in Oldbury, follow on Facebook.
