Big-hearted Bromley FC fans raise almost £3,000

Football fans from London recently succeeded in their goal of fundraising for The Salvation Army after almost £3,000 was achieved thanks to generous donations.
Led by 18-year-old Louie Saunders, over 130 Bromley FC fans recently travelled to Lancashire in fancy dress to watch their team take on Accrington Stanley FC. Louie has been an avid fan of Bromley FC for more than five years and follows all their games both at home and away.
Charity fundraising is something that Louie began to do in 2024, with a fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Along with other fans, Louie wore fancy dress at Bromley FC’s final game before Christmas 2024 and raised over £2,700 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Louie decided to do a similar fundraiser for the final game before Christmas 2025 and explained why The Salvation Army was his charity of choice this year.
“We wanted to fundraise again in 2025 but this time for a different charity and we chose The Salvation Army as it does so much to help families. After lots of promotion of the fundraiser and help from Accrington Stanley on the day, we wore fancy dress again and managed to raise over £2,750 for The Salvation Army.
“We received some very generous donations – including £1,000 from our part-owner at Bromley Football Club, Anthony Serafino. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who kindly supported our fundraising.”
Community Fundraiser at The Salvation Army, James Szumowski said: “We are incredibly grateful to Louie and Bromley FC’s away fans for their dedication and creativity in making the 536-mile round trip in fancy dress to cheer on The Ravens against Accrington Stanley, all to raise money for The Salvation Army.
“Their fantastic efforts will make a real difference to the lives of people we support, helping us to continue our vital work in communities across the UK, including Bromley and Lancashire.”
