An Ever-Growing Threat
Since 2011, The Salvation Army and its partners have supported a total of 24,565 recovering survivors of modern slavery.
Traffickers continue to use their criminal networks and activities to enslave more people, exploiting their vulnerabilities and instilling fear to prevent them from seeking help from a society that too often either ignores or is unaware of their plight.
This is the thirteenth year the Government has contracted The Salvation Army and its partners to deliver specialist support for adult victims of modern slavery referred from England and Wales. Our dedicated Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery (ATMS) team works day in, day out to provide life-changing support to survivors.

Enslaved to Empowered: Anna’s Story
The journey from victim to survivor can be long and challenging and requires many interconnected support services tailored to each person’s needs. Enslaved to empowered is in everything we do. Alongside and on behalf of survivors, we aim to involve and empower them in their recovery.
Anna’s world was shattered when strangers took everything from her. She lived a normal, happy life in Albania when they forced her into a life she never wanted, making her work as a sex worker. They constantly threatened her and her family, using fear to control her. They knew she was smart and spoke good English, and that is when they forced her to England. They bought her plane tickets and gave her false documents. She had no say in it.
When she arrived in England, she saw a glimmer of hope. For the first time, she had the chance to run. Though she was free from their immediate grasp, the journey ahead was still filled with uncertainty and hardship. It was through this struggle that she found The Salvation Army.
In her darkest hours, we became her lifeline. We offered the protection and support she so desperately needed, something she did not know she could rely on.
*The case study reflects the true story of people that we have helped. This name has been changed to protect the identity of the people we support. Names have been changed, and models are used in photographs to protect the privacy of the people concerned.
Modern Slavery can take many forms and it can be hard to spot, even though it is often happening right where we are, but hidden in plain sight.
As the only UK charity tasked with the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract (MSVCC), we are committed to supporting thousands of people experiencing modern slavery.
Donations to this appeal will be allocated to Modern Slavery projects run by The Salvation Army. Our ATMS team have a range of projects and ongoing commitments, and we will seek to address any shortfall from other sources. Should we exceed our targeted budget for either area we will commit the funds to where The Salvation Army needs support the most. When reviewing your next donation, we can discuss the available options and determine which cause resonates most with you.
This Easter, we ask for your generous support to help people like Anna. By making a donation, you can help survivors overcome their difficult pasts and move towards a future filled with confidence, resilience, and hope. Your kindness can make all the difference.
