Easter Weekend 2025 – Staines Corps
A Celebration of Faith, Hope, and Love
This Easter weekend was a deeply meaningful and Spirit-filled time for our Corps, marked by powerful ministry, heartfelt worship, and the enduring themes of faith, hope, and love.
With the ministry of our honoured guests, General Lyndon Buckingham and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham, supported by Major Chris Mulryne, the weekend left a lasting impression on us all.
The journey began on Maundy Thursday evening, with a beautiful presentation of Easter Music presented by the Staines Band and Songsters. Through reflective music and thoughtful spoken word, we were guided through the story of Easter in a way that touched hearts and prepared us for the sacred days ahead. The General and Commissioner Bronwyn shared how deeply they were blessed by this evening—a powerful beginning to their Easter journey with us. We were also joined on this evening by our Territorial leaders Commissioners Paul and Jenine Main.
The meetings were under the prayerful leadership of Major Val Mylechreest, and on Good Friday morning, Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham brought a powerful and reflective message, drawing us to the foot of the cross. Her preaching reminded us of the sacrificial love of Christ, and the spirit of the meeting was reverent and heartfelt
Following the morning worship, our junior band provided music at the Ashford Open-Air Service whilst our special guests and the Band led a walk of witness through Staines town centre to the Churches Together Open-Air Service, where General Lyndon Buckingham proclaimed the hope of the Gospel in the public square. His clear and passionate message lifted up the name of Jesus and reached not only the gathered crowd but many in the surrounding area. It was a powerful moment of hope-filled witness and unity with other churches.
In the afternoon, at our poignant 3pm Good Friday service, Adherent Jeannie Saha-Cook gave a moving testimony about her journey with the Lord that challenged us all. The General brought a deeply moving and thoughtful message, helping us reflect once more and stirred faith in our hearts, reminding us of the price Jesus paid for our salvation. The General quoted the song ‘Standing somewhere in the shadows, you’ll find Jesus’. The challenge to us was that often it is us standing in the shadows, not Jesus, but he can and does find us there, inviting us to step out of the shadows and into the light of His saving grace. Don’t stay hidden-step into His grace.
Easter Sunday was a joyful celebration of resurrection life. A particularly special moment came as General Lyndon Buckingham shared his personal testimony, offering a heartfelt glimpse into his own walk of faith and God’s continued faithfulness. Adding to the richness of the morning, our Corps music sections participated in worship, bringing heartfelt and uplifting contributions that helped create a powerful atmosphere of praise. Their ministry added depth and joy to the celebration. Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham preached a vibrant and Spirit-filled message. A particular challenging and powerful truth on the words ‘In Christ alone my hope is found’ reinforcing the central message of hope and resurrection through Christ. Many responded in a time dedication.
Throughout the weekend, both General Lyndon and Commissioner Bronwyn ministered with warmth, humility, and genuine love. Their presence, both on and off the platform, was an incredible blessing.
We are deeply grateful for their ministry and dedication that helped shape this sacred weekend. May the faith rekindled, the hope restored, and the love experienced continue to grow in our lives.
To God be the glory!
