Welsh Government budget will help tackle homelessness

The Salvation Army welcomes extra money to tackle homelessness allocated in the Welsh Government’s budget for 2025-26.
An extra £81 million has been committed to build more homes for social rent helping people living in temporary accommodation. An additional £21 million will fund frontline housing and homelessness services.
Emma Shaw, Salvation Army, Assistant Director for homelessness services for Wales, said:
“Every 39 minutes in Wales, someone becomes homeless. In a country like ours everyone should have access to a safe, stable, and affordable home.
“With the available help for people accessing our services already stretched, we hope this extra funding will be targeted at supporting the most vulnerable people living on the street or helping those in temporary accommodation to move into a home of their own.
“Across Wales our Lifehouses, Tenancy Support, Outreach and Housing First programmes have been described as inspirational by Welsh politicians and are helping people break the cycle of homelessness and move on to independent living. This extra money outlined in the budget recognises the value of those services and others like them.”
