Salvation Army officially opens B&M store and receives donation to support community work

A new discount retail superstore has opened in Winsford with The Salvation Army asked to officially open the shop to members of the public as a recognition of its work and commitment to the local community.

B&M has opened its first shop in Winsford, located on the former Fountain Court site, with the team asked to nominate a local charity deserving some VIP treatment for the work they do for the community. The Salvation Army was selected, officially opening the new store at 8am on Wednesday, June 11, and receiving a £250 gift voucher.

We’re grateful to B&M for their generous gift of £250 in vouchers which will go towards our community fund, supporting the people who need it the most through emergency food provision and practical assistance such as with bedding and clothing.”

Major Gareth Dickens, church leader of The Salvation Army Winsford said: “We want to thank B&M for giving us the opportunity to be part of the launch of this fantastic new store. The cost-of-living is still high and with B&M renowned for its affordable prices on key cupboard staples and household essentials, we welcome the addition to our town which we have no doubt will support people within our community who may struggle day to day with rising prices and the continued increase in the cost-of-living.

“We’re grateful to B&M for their generous gift of £250 in vouchers which will go towards our community fund, supporting the people who need it the most through emergency food provision and practical assistance such as with bedding and clothing.”

The opening of the new B&M superstore will see more than 29 jobs created for people in the area.

The Salvation Army in Winsford runs a range of activities each week including a Sunday service, a community café serving tea, toast and a chat and offers support via emergency food parcels and clothing support.
