The Salvation Army Cheltenham hosts free Easter event for community – a day of fun based on the Easter Story

published on 16 Apr 2025

On Saturday 19th April the Salvation Army in Cheltenham will be at Sandford Park for an Easter celebration like no other: a day of crafts, sports, an Easter trail, goody bags and free bibles is designed to spark joy—and maybe even a little hope.

All activities are free and open to all, reflecting The Salvation Army’s commitment to bringing people together in celebration and community.

Rachel and Tom Dunham who lead The Salvation Army in Cheltenham said, “This Easter, we’re taking the joy of the Easter beyond our four walls and into the open air—where all are invited to explore and reflect on the hope of resurrection. Explore our Easter trail round the park that tells the Easter story and see what prize awaits! We are passionate about generations learning from each other, journeying in faith together and having fun together. The people are the church, not the building, so we’re excited to be at Sandford Park and we can’t wait to see you there!"

In addition to crafts and Easter-themed trails, there will be people around for conversations, and free bibles to take away if you’d like to read a bit more about the meaning behind Easter. Set near the play park and coffee van at Sandford Park, the gathering promises a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
