A new Salvation Army donation centre and shop has officially opened its doors in Wishaw this week, offering the community a welcoming space to donate, shop, and support people in need.
The centre is equipped to accept a wide range of items, including large furniture pieces and electrical goods. With free on-site parking and a dedicated furniture collection service available for house calls, donating has never been easier for local residents.
The new facility at Caledonian Retail Park is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm and features a large showroom showcasing pre-loved furniture, clothing, and household items that can be bought to support the church and charity’s life-changing work.
Paula Jones, Wishaw Donation Centre Manager, said: “We want this site to be a huge part of the community in Wishaw. Due to the size of the centre, we’re able to offer a great variety of quality and affordable items, all while supporting the essential work of The Salvation Army.
“The centre also provides fantastic volunteering opportunities for anyone who wants to get involved and be part of something meaningful.”
All volunteers gain valuable retail and business experience, free award-winning training, and access to a range of benefits, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking to give back or build skills in a supportive environment.
At the official opening, Major Iain Hudson of The Salvation Army, said: “This is more than just a place to donate or shop, it’s a space where generosity, kindness, and community come together to make a real difference. Every donation helps us offer practical support and hope to individuals and families experiencing challenging times.”
The Wishaw donation centre will also work closely with Salvation Army churches and community centres across central Scotland to expand mission outreach and provide tangible support to those most in need.
The site will be managed by Paula Jones, who brings a wealth of experience and dedication to leading the local team of staff and volunteers.
