Keighley Salvation Army is marching towards a year of joyful music which will wrap up with a concert from the world famous Salvation Army International Staff Band (ISB).
A series of concerts, including from the acclaimed City of Bradford Brass Band and West Yorkshire Brass Band, will take place throughout 2026 and 2027 culminating with the ISB concert weekend in May 2027.
The ‘Year of Brass’ events will launch on Sunday 7 June 2026 at the church and charity in High Street with a performance from The Salvation Army’s Leeds West Hunslet Band.
Major Imogen Stewart, who leads Keighley Salvation Army, said: “We’re delighted to launch our year of concerts, which will be topped off by a visit from world renowned Salvation Army International Staff Band next summer.
“As a church, music is such an important expression of our faith and relationship with God. The music really does touch the heart and resonates with people whether they are of faith or no faith.
“We’re also blessed that our church is in the heart of Yorkshire, which has the best brass bands in the world. To have these amazing musicians like City of Bradford Brass Band and West Yorkshire Brass Band on our doorstep and providing free concerts is incredible and will bring such joy to the community.
“It would be lovely to welcome friends old and new to our church and community hall to enjoy this music and introduce it to a new generation. The majority of our concerts over the next year will be free with donations welcome to raise funds for the work Keighley Salvation Army does within the community.”
The first concert will take place on Sunday 7 June with Leeds West Hunslet Brass Band.
This will be followed by:
- Sunday 14 June with Queensbury Music Centre Brass Band
- Sunday 20 September with West Yorkshire Brass Band
- Sunday 6 December with City of Bradford Brass Band
- Saturday 10 April 2027 with Brass Impact
