Honouring sacrifice, praying for peace and reconciliation

The Salvation Army will play a key role in the Wales National Service of Remembrance in Cardiff this Sunday, 8 November, from 10.30am.
The church and charity’s Canton Band will provide music at the Welsh National War Memorial in Cathays Park. The leader of The Salvation Army in Wales, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Roberts, will deliver a reading during the service:
“It is a privilege to take part in the service, when we remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in service, while also reflecting on the devastating impact of conflict. Remembrance Sunday reminds us of the importance of praying and working for peace. For generations, The Salvation Army has marked Remembrance Sunday through music, worship and community activities, honouring sacrifice and praying for peace and reconciliation.”
The Salvation Army will also support Remembrance events across Wales, including a service at its Ty Dewr Lifehouse in Wrexham that provides accommodation for former members of the armed forces. Ty Dewr is a veteran specific service and is for any former Army, Navy or Air Force personnel experiencing homelessness. The service helps people discover a new sense of self, renew their independence and realise their potential as members of the community.
