Doncaster church's wedding fayre vows to keep prices affordable

With a vow to keep prices low, The Salvation Army in Doncaster is to host an affordable Wedding and Prom Fayre - offering a range of top outfits for the big day.
Preloved wedding and prom dresses will be on sale for as little as £10, as well as a wide selection of wedding guest attire and accessories, with the money raised helping to support the work the church and charity does in the local community.
Following on from the success of the event last year, the Wedding and Prom Fayre will take place at the Lakeside Community Church on Booth Avenue in Doncaster on Saturday 7 February between 10am and 4pm.
Doncaster Salvation Army runs several charity shops across the city which have been collecting items. Donations have also come in from businesses and charities.
Samantha Laszkowicz, Area Manager for The Salvation Army’s Doncaster charity shops, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to host our second fayre following on from the success of last year. We’ll have a selection of second-hand vintage and modern wedding and prom dresses on offer for as little as £10, as well as stalls selling wedding guest attire and accessories. The items are of a really good quality and some of them will be brand new.
“We’ve been busy collecting dresses from various charities and businesses, and have been overwhelmed with the response. Tickled Pink, a local bridal shop in Hatfield, has donated brand new dresses for the second time with retail prices of more than £400 per dress.
“We know that getting married can be costly, and for people who are struggling financially it might seem an unattainable dream, so we want to make sure that people have the chance to get what they need at really affordable prices.
“It’s also a chance to donate to a good cause with the money raised from this going towards supporting the community across Doncaster through the work The Salvation Army does in providing food, Christmas presents, activities and much more.
“So, whether you're planning a wedding, going to a wedding, or will be attending a prom in the summer we’ve got something for you. We’d love to see you there.”
Admission is free and there is no need to register. Hot drinks and cakes from as little as £1 will also be available from The Coffee Lounge. There is also free parking at the church.
