Families enjoyed an afternoon of music, creativity and fun as Coventry City Salvation Army celebrated superheroes from the big screen and the Bible at a free community concert this October.

The Superheroes Concert, held on Saturday 17 October at The Salvation Army on Upper Well Street, Coventry, brought families together to enjoy an exciting musical programme, superhero-themed arts and crafts, and refreshments.

The Coventry City Band entertained the audience with music inspired by some of the world's best-loved superheroes and films, including The Incredibles, Supergirl, The Rescuers, Superman, The Avengers, Spiderman and Thor.

The concert also featured Jonah, a Salvation Army rendition exploring the biblical story of one of the Bible's unlikely heroes, offering families a different perspective on what it means to be a hero.

Children were encouraged to dress as their favourite superheroes, adding to the fun and celebratory atmosphere, while creative activities gave younger visitors the chance to get involved beyond the music.

“We wanted to create an afternoon where families can have lots of fun together, enjoy some fantastic music and also discover that superheroes are not only found in films and comics. The Bible is full of people who faced huge challenges, showed courage and trusted God. We hope the afternoon sparked some great conversations, inspired children and above all, gave everyone a chance to enjoy themselves.”

The event explored the idea that being a hero is about more than superpowers or costumes. Qualities such as love, courage, faith, kindness and perseverance can make a difference in everyday life, too.
