As we commence the celebrations for our 140th Anniversary, we have the visit of The International Staff Band of The Salvation Army.
They will be giving a concert at St. Mary's Maidenhead on Saturday 21 February 2026 at 7:00pm.
Tickets go on sale from Monday 5 January 2026 at 7:30am, priced at £10.00 each - https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/t-mjoogra
The International Staff Band (ISB) is the flagship brass band of The Salvation Army based in London, UK. This concert will be the very first one under their new Bandmaster, Jonathan Evans.
The Band was founded officially on 7 October 1891 by Bramwell Booth (then second in command of The Salvation Army) from staff at the international headquarters. Their mission is to “spread the message of Christ primarily through music and aims for the highest standards of Salvation Army Christian music-making.”
They perform concerts, lead worship services, appear on television and radio broadcasts, make recordings, and go on tours both in the UK and internationally. Membership consists of about 30-odd musicians drawn from across the UK and Ireland territory of The Salvation Army.
As the premier band of The Salvation Army, the ISB sets a standard for other Salvation Army bands around the world in terms of musical excellence, spiritual purpose and outreach. They help to reshape the image of brass banding: moving from public marches/campaigns to worship, mission and recording projects.
In Salvation Army context, bands aren’t just for concerts: they accompany open-air meetings, corps worship services, territory events and national gatherings. The ISB embodies that by combining high-quality musical performance with a clear Christian message.
Join us for our annual concert with Ascot Brass and Maidenhead Citadel Songsters. A fabulous evening of brass and choral music. Tickets are £10 adults (under 16s free), available on the door, and in aid of The Salvation Army's Big Connection Appeal.

Boiler Room – Powerhouse
You are welcome to join us for our Boiler Room Prayer Meeting every Friday between 9:30am-10:00am in-person in the Prayer Room. Subjects will be provided each week for us to pray for, based on our mission and ministry and what is going on around us.
There is a Prayer Requests box on Reception (along with Prayer Request notepads) for use by corps members and hopefully, others who come into the Hall. We will pray those requests on a Friday morning too (unless they are marked Confidential for the CO only). Please do take advantage of this when it becomes available. We need to pray for each other! (as I know many of us do).
Pause and pray at 9.38am for future leaders
Every day at 9.38, you're invited to pause and pray for future leaders of The Salvation Army – inspired by Jesus' words in Matthew 9:38: ‘Ask the Lord of the harvest… to send out workers into his harvest field’ (New International Version). Wherever you are, simply set a daily reminder and take a moment to pray that God will send out people into his mission field. Watch a video from the Candidates Unit on www.salvationist.org.uk to find out more.
Who are we praying for?
- For those called to be spiritual leaders
- For those nearing or in retirement as they discern where they are called to serve
- For those living out Jesus in their workplaces
- For families called to be like Jesus in school, college and their communities.
If a calling to spiritual leadership is on your heart, talk to your corps leader or email vocation@salvationarmy.org.uk.

Captain's Log
Why You Don't Need to Be Afraid When Everything Runs Out
Have you ever felt like you're running on empty? Last Sunday we explored two Bible stories that show us what happens when God meets us in our moments of need.
We looked at Elijah and the widow of Zarephath who was down to her last handful of flour, and Jesus at a wedding where the wine ran out. Both stories reveal the same truth: there's no place God cannot go, no need he cannot meet, and no situation too desperate for his power and compassion.
Three Takeaways
First, God isn't limited by boundaries. He sent Elijah to a foreign country, breaking through any barrier that might stop his purpose. Second, God keeps his promises. The widow trusted Elijah's word and discovered that God's provision never failed. Third, God works through ordinary people in everyday situations. Whether it's a desperate widow or wedding guests, God shows up with power and love.
Practical Application
This week, think about someone in your life who feels empty, afraid, or in crisis. How might God want to use you to bring his compassion to them? Perhaps it's sharing your time, your home, or simply your presence. God fills empty vessels through ordinary people who trust him.
We simply don't need to be afraid or panic. As 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, "God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." Trust him today.
In his strength.
Rob Westwood-Payne.
Captain.

Territorial Prayer Network - Points for prayer from Prayer Matters
SUNDAY 15 February: SABBATH PRAYER
Bringing Hope
In our Covenant Sunday Focus in January, we reflected on how we might bring hope to the people around us this year. As you look back over the first six weeks of the year, what seeds of hope have you been planting, and what signs of hope are you seeing around you? Lyndall Bywater (UKI Boiler Room Team)
MONDAY 16 February: SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
Central, Southern and Channel Islands Division – Year of prayer
Our Divisional Children’s Worker and Divisional Youth Specialist have launched a year of prayer for our children’s and young people’s work. Join us in prayer for all the work already done, and for new opportunities to reach out to the younger generations around the division. Pray especially for those who are delegates in our ‘Youth Growing Leaders’ programme.
Major Jane Alton (Divisional Leader, Central, Southern and Channel Islands Division)
TUESDAY 17 February: SERVING AND CARING
Territorial Youth Band and Territorial Youth Chorus (16-20 February)
110 delegates and 40 staff will gather for this year’s Territorial Youth Band and Territorial Youth Chorus (TYB and TYC), five days of discipleship and music-making together. The theme of the week is Light. We pray that delegates will find ways to show the light of God in their lives, and that they will also spend the week encouraging the light to shine within each other. We ask that God’s strength, patience and grace will be upon each staff member, and that, as they give of their time and talents, they too will receive blessings beyond measure.
Stephanie Lamplough (Assistant Director, Music and Creative Arts)
WEDNESDAY 18 February: JUSTICE AND RECONCILIATION
Journeying with women and children in Bangladesh
For more than 30 years, The Salvation Army in Jashore, Bangladesh, has faithfully journeyed with women and children living in the neighbourhood brothel district. Women end up there for many reasons – debt, deception, abandonment – but not out of choice. Lord God, we pray that the cycles of sexual exploitation that persist here will be destroyed, and women and children will find pathways to freedom.
Hayley Still (UK Engagement Coordinator, Salvation Army International Development)
THURSDAY 19 February: INTERNATIONAL SALVATION ARMY
Germany, Lithuania and Poland Territory
We pray today for the Germany, Lithuania and Poland Territory, giving thanks for the many ways in which Salvationists are loving and serving their local communities. We pray particularly for the work the Army is doing among refugees in these nations, that there will be enough resources to support everyone who needs help. We pray for the territorial leadership team of Colonels Dean and Eirwen Pallant and Lieut-Colonels Achim and Anette Janowski. Lyndall Bywater (UKI Boiler Room Team)
FRIDAY 20 February: GROWING IN FAITH
Territorial Youth Band and Territorial Youth Chorus (16-20 February)
As TYB and TYC draw to a close, pray for each delegate, that they will find solace and strength which they can take back with them into their everyday lives: their home, their corps and their school or college. Pray for today’s final celebration, ‘Youth Makes Music’, that God will be at the centre of all that is produced, and that his presence will be felt by all who listen and engage in the music and worship. May God use all that is done and given in his name in this week to bring people closer to a life of fullness in him and to extend his Kingdom. Stephanie Lamplough (Asst Director, Music and Creative Arts)
