The Salvation Army mission in Harrow has just moved out of the building on Roxeth Hill into the community, our building remains in use being hired by community groups, but as God's people we want to be more involved in our local area. We remain committed to serving and helping our local community as we always have but are just not based in the building. 

The Salvation Army was established in Harrow on 4th January 1887 and has been sited in the building on Roxeth Hill since 1906. We’ve been serving our community from that site ever since.

Over the last 12 months we have felt God calling us to serve our community in a new way and under His guidance we are replanting as a Fresh Expression of church. Our earnest desire is to be a loving and relevant expression of The Salvation Army and we are carefully and prayerfully exploring Jesus' will for us. 

Our service to the community is our act of worship and we engage with God through supporting others.

We want to say to you - Whatever your story, age, experiences, you belong here! We have a very simple mission – to love everyone, serve our community and share the message of Jesus!

Christian faith during the week

Our Singing By Heart sessions are now twice a month at 2pm on the first and third Thursday of the month at South Harrow Baptist Church, for those living with dementia and their carers. All welcome!
The power of music, especially singing, to unlock memories is an increasingly key feature of dementia care as it seems to access parts of the brain that remain unaffected by the progression of dementia.

‘Singing By Heart’ uses a mixture of secular and religious songs which span the decades. Every song is introduced by a relevant scripture verse and concluded with a prayer. The sessions are designed to encourage communication, recollection of memories, and fun for those taking part. It is also hoped carers will find the sessions beneficial through enabling time for them to relax, make friends and share experiences.

COVID guidelines will be followed. We will have chairs spaced out, room ventilated and plenty of hand sanitiser!

Clothing donations

There are numerous Salvation Army clothing banks across the borough where you can drop off any unwanted clothes, shoes or household textiles 24/7. We recommend that you pack donations in smaller bags rather than larger bags because they are easier to deposit.
