Christmas at The Salvation Army

Donate

For The Salvation Army, it is unthinkable that anyone should be homeless, hungry or lonely, especially at Christmas.

That’s why we need your help, to reach out to the people who are suffering the most and bring comfort and joy into their lives.

These times are hard for many in our country. Struggling parents are dreading Christmas because they can’t afford a decent meal, let alone presents for their children. Many older and vulnerable people will face a heartbreaking Christmas alone. And thousands will be experiencing homelessness, sleeping rough in terrible conditions.

In 600 communities across the UK, we will be doing all we can for them, whatever their circumstances.

What we are doing this Christmas

This year we will be supporting people by:

  • Providing Christmas lunches and companionship to older people living alone.
  • Giving Christmas food parcels to families who are struggling to afford a proper Christmas lunch.
  • Distributing toys to children whose parents are unable to afford presents.

We are also battling to reduce, prevent and help end homelessness by:

  • Providing supported accommodation to over 2,000 people every night at our 41 Lifehouses who would otherwise have nowhere to stay across the UK and Ireland.
  • Offering people a safe, warm alternative to a night on the streets through our emergency provision.
  • Providing practical support of hot food, clothing and access to drop-in day centres with access to specialist support.
How you can help

There are a number of ways that you can get involved this Christmas, including:

  • Donate to our Christmas Appeal and help us reach those who need us most this winter.
  • Donate toys for children who might not otherwise receive gifts this Christmas.
  • Join our 'Be a Star' campaign by taking part in a fundraising activity.
