10:30am - 1pm - Employment Plus (support with employment, training, debt advice, housing etc)

Thursday

7:15pm - 8:30pm Brass Band practice - if you play an instrument you are more than welcome to join us.

Friday

4:30pm-5:30pm - LEGO club. A S.E.N. session for primary school children and their siblings - Term Time only (apart from 2nd Friday of the month when there is Messy Church). 50p per child. Sensory space and refreshments. 

4:30pm - 6pm - 2nd Friday of the month - Messy Church. All age and inclusive worship with songs, crafts, stories and a free hot meal at the end.

FAQ's

• What happens on Sundays? On Sundays, people of all ages gather together to worship God. At Bristol South Salvation Army, we do this with songs (some active, some quiet, some old and some new), readings from the Bible, praying, listening to people speak or to music and doing some activities to help us understand the Bible reading or connect with God. We all sit around tables during worship, and some people choose to colour, use fidgets or even do puzzles whilst listening. Refreshments are also available throughout.
• Is there provision for children? Yes there is. Sometimes the children will go into a different room with some trained and DBS checked adults to learn about God and the Bible in their own way, and sometimes they will stay in the meeting and explore the story using a sensory Bible tray. We also provide sensory Bible story bags and a baby area so parents can choose to stay in the same room whilst attending to their child. And please don't worry about your child making noise - we love having children as part of our church and we are not bothered by noise!
• What should I wear? Whatever you feel comfortable in! The Salvation Army is known for uniforms, but you do not need to wear a uniform to come to worship with us. Those who choose to wear uniform are people who have chosen to become Senior Soldier members of our church, but we have a lot of people (both Senior Soldiers and not) who attend who wear whatever they like.
• Myself or a family member have additional needs or disabilities. Are we welcome? Yes! You are absolutely welcome! For those with physical disabilities, we have ramp access with off-street parking to the front of the building, and ramp access and wheelchair friendly paths to access the garden at the rear of our building. We have a disabled access toilet and both the main hall and the sensory room are wheelchair accessible. For those with neurodiversity or other additional needs, we have a sensory prayer room, fully equipped with a bubble tube, fibre optics, sensory panels and more. We use sensory bible trays in our teaching and frequently include sensory activities in worship. We have ear defenders and PEC cards available too. We also, as a whole congregation, took part in training with Alma Autism to build awareness and learn how to be more inclusive for those with neurodiversity. We aren't perfect, but we are happy to learn, so if you have any requirements to enable you or your family member to be able to join us, please do get in contact.
