Help us be there all year round

Give a regular gift

For over 150 years, The Salvation Army has been a true friend to people in the greatest need.  We have offered support and advice to people who are homeless, food and practical help to people who are hungry, companionship to those who are lonely, and a safe refuge for the victims of abuse.

And over the last two years, during the most challenging circumstances, we did everything we could to ensure that no one was forgotten, and it looks like we will be needed just as much this year.

You can support this work by joining our Circle of Friends, which helps us meet one of the biggest challenges we face; it can be a tremendous struggle to raise the funds we need to keep our vital services going, especially after the past two years. Every day people in need turn to us to be their friend – and for that to happen, we need you to be our Friend. So please consider joining our Circle of Friends today.

We were a friend to…

  • Sarah, who, at eight months pregnant, came to us when she fled her abusive boyfriend. We found her emergency accommodation and provided the essentials she needed, such as nappies and blankets.
  • Kathy, who is 94-years-old and is largely housebound due to difficulty walking which makes her very isolated. We support her through our Good Neighbours scheme, where members of the community combat loneliness through calls and visits to older people.
  • Danny, who had been homeless on and off for 30 years until he came to one of our drop-ins. Thanks to our encouragement, Danny has now come in off the streets and lives in one of our Lifehouses (residential centres for homeless people).

Our work never stops

We’re working every day in communities up and down the United Kingdom to support people like Sarah, Kathy and Danny. We need your regular support to ensure that we’re always ready to help when people are in greatest need.

What’s more, pledging a regular gift does not commit you if your circumstances change, because you are free to alter or cancel your Direct Debit at any time you want.

A regular Direct Debit of:

  • £2 a month could contribute towards a welcome pack for a homeless person in one of our residential centres (Lifehouses).
  • £10 a month could provide an hour of one-to-one support work for a homeless person in one of our centres.
  • £15 a month could pay for a weekly luncheon club so 7 lonely older people can enjoy lunch and friendship at a Salvation Army community centre.

If enough people are prepared to support us with a Direct Debit, it will mean that we can look to the year ahead knowing that we will have the funds to carry on our work.

To many, your support will be priceless, so please set up a regular gift today if you can. Thank you.
