Hadleigh Temple

We are located on the London Road in Hadleigh, Essex (A13), opposite Morrisons supermarket. Hadleigh is situated within the borough of Castle Point.

If using Satnav, use SS7 2PB for directions.

Parking is available directly behind our halls accessed by a small side-road to the left of our white cottages. 

Please note if you park in the super-market opposite, you are restricted to 3 hours parking.

We are served by a number of bus routes; 1,3, & 21, 21C, 21S, 26, 27, 27A, 28 & 827. 
The nearest bus stops are Homestead Way (Westbound) and Morrisons (Eastbound).

Since 2022, more than 206,000 Christmas gifts have been delivered by The Salvation Army to children and families facing hardship - small expressions of the love that came down at Christmas and still reaches out today.

Thank you to all whose kindness and generosity have enabled us to support families with children here in our community this Christmas. We also distributed several bags of new toys to the Basildon Corps, the HFE Mission Team, and supported several further families with toys this Christmas through the Barnardo’s network.

SILVER SERVICE Club for over-55s

Our Silver Service group for over-55’s meets every Monday at 1:30pm. A lively and popular social group where members can come along and enjoy some light refreshments and a varying range of entertainment each week. 

We’re always delighted to welcome new members! 
You’re invited to enjoy a trial of up to three meetings before deciding on membership. Our current rates are £50 for a full year or £30 for six months. There’s no need to book, just come along on the day.

1st HADLEIGH SCOUT GROUP

The 1st Hadleigh Scout Group helps young people gain skills for life. From survival skills and first aid to cooking and expedition training, it’s a fantastic way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, explore your creativity, and discover more of the world around you. Whatever your interests or abilities, there’s something for every young person.

Join our avid group of like-minded knitters for a creative session filled with laughter, friendly chatter, and plenty of yarn!

Knit 'N' Natter meets every Tuesday at 10.00am and is open to everyone - there's no need to book, just come along!

LUNCH TIME BIBLE STUDY

Our Bible study group meets here on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 12.30pm.

HADLEIGH CAMERA CLUB

Hadleigh Camera Club is an open and welcoming group where photographers of all ages and abilities can enjoy and develop their skills. They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 8.00pm.

Meridian Kung Fu classes start from 5 years old with no upper age limit and is open to anyone that would like to give martial arts a go.

The Salvation Army Food Bank supports its members of the community who are in need of our help. 
The foodbank runs every Wednesday morning from 09.00 to 12.00.

HOME LEAGUE WOMEN'S MINISTRY GROUP

Our hugely popular Home League meets every Wednesday at 1.30pm. Join us for a varied programme of fun and informative sessions reflecting the four Home League values - Worship, Fellowship, Service, Education.

WEDNESDAY EVENING IS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC! 

Our Midweek Music groups meet every Wednesday evening during term time. Brass Learners meet at 5.30pm, followed by the Songsters Adult Choir practice at 7.30pm.

HADLEIGH UKULELE GROUP

The Ukulele Group meets every Thursday from 2.00 - 4.00pm during term time.

Currently 32 strong, Hadleigh Ukulele Group is comprised of experienced and competent ukulele players supported by fellow enthusiastic strummers and singers, who enjoy 2 hours of musical fun and laughter each week. They also play for local charitable groups from time to time - usually in the form of ‘singalong sessions’ in support of fund raising activities.

SALVATION ARMY BRASS BAND SESSIONS

The Hadleigh Temple Brass Band meets for practice every Thursday evening at 7.30pm, during school term time. These rehearsals provide a regular opportunity for members to come together, develop their musical skills, and prepare for upcoming performances and events. 

Whether working on new pieces or refining old favourites, the weekly practice sessions are an important part of the band’s life and a chance to enjoy making music as a group.

TEMPLE TOTS

Every Friday during term time from 10:00 - 11:30am. All are welcome, just come along on the day.

Our popular Temple Tots group is a lively, hands-on play experience designed just for curious little explorers! Our sessions are filled with sensory play, arts and crafts and interactive games that spark imagination, build motor skills, and encourage social connections.  Parents and caregivers can relax, connect, and share in the joy of their little ones discovering new ways to play, learn, and grow in a safe and welcoming environment.

LONDON NE FELLOWSHIP BAND

The London N.E. Fellowship Band practices every other Friday at 1.30pm, bringing together Salvationists who enjoy playing brass music for worship, concerts, and outreach.

TIMBRELTASTIC - a fun way to keep fit while playing the tambourine!

Timbreltastic is a tambourine dance group open to all in the community. Come along at 7:00pm on the last Friday of every month to enjoy lively music, energetic dancing, and a great way to keep fit!

SOUTHEND TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE
Friday evenings from 7.30pm

The Southend Table Tennis League is affiliated to the Essex Table Tennis Association (ECTTA) and the English Table Tennis Association (ETTA). Their aim is to provide friendly competition where the main ingredient is good sportsmanship.

LOMVC - LEIGH ORPHEUS MALE VOICE CHOIR

OUR SPACES

• Main Hall - Our main hall is the ideal venue for concerts and events. It can accommodate over 200 at full capacity when extended to include the rear hall. The main hall also offers an impressive sound system and large presentation screen.
   
• Rear Hall - The rear hall is an extension to the Main Hall and can be partitioned off to create a separate space. Also ideal for events and large groups looking for a regular venue for clubs and activities. 
   
• Georges Hall - Georges Hall is one of our most popular spaces here at Hadleigh Temple and offers a light and airy communal space. The partition wall can be opened up to connect with the Lounge room, providing additional capacity.
   
• The Cottage - The Cottage offers a more homely setting and is ideal for small groups looking for a lower capacity space.
   
• Lounge Room - Our Lounge room can accommodate 20-30 people and is the ideal setting for smaller groups looking for a warm and welcoming space.

We are pleased to work alongside Hadleigh Farm Estate - home to a commercial farm, a RBST accredited Rare Breeds Centre and a Training Centre for adults with additional support needs; which incorporates a fully operational trainee-led tearoom where a warm welcome from the Trainees awaits. 

Hadleigh Farm Estate is truly a place of natural beauty, committed to environmental and social progress, and home to an English Heritage site.

The audience braved the rain and turned out in force to watch the Hadleigh Temple Salvation Army Band perform with friends at the Priory Park Bandstand in Southend!

On Wednesday we were treated to  a visit from the children of Sandcastles Nursery, who performed a special Harvest Festival concert in preparation for our own Harvest celebrations here at Hadleigh Temple. The children sang a selection of autumn-themed songs for our Home League and generously brought a wonderful assortment of food items to contribute to our Harvest Festival.

Don’t miss our Harvest Festival this Sunday, 21st September at 10:30am! Come and celebrate with us in this joyful service featuring music from the Hadleigh Temple Band, the Training Band, and the Songsters. Bring along a food donation and be part of this wonderful celebration.

On 4th October, we were delighted to welcome over 70 talented young musicians from the East of England Youth Band and Youth Choir to Hadleigh Temple for a weekend filled with music and fellowship. The group gave a brilliant concert on Saturday evening which was enjoyed by an 80 strong audience. The Youth section then led our Morning Worship on Sunday morning before returning home. During their stay, they also enjoyed exploring the local area, including visits to Hadleigh Farm Estate and Hadleigh Castle.
