Salvation Army leads drive to collect essential Back-To-School Supplies

The Salvation Army in Watford is calling on the local community to donate back-to-school supplies for those unable to buy essential kit themselves.  

Our church and community centre in Watford has seen many families in the area cannot afford school supplies for their children as they prepare to return to school in September. 
Watford Salvation Army is inviting the local community to help a child fulfil their potential through its Back-To-School Supplies Drive.

Captain Mark Scoulding, The Salvation Army’s leader in Watford, said: “We want every child in Watford to start the new school year with all the supplies and kit they need to achieve their very best. For some people, it might look like just a pack of pencils or a backpack, but to many people it can be new hope for having a successful school year.  

“I’d like to encourage people when they go shopping to add a few extra items to their shopping trolley, if they can, for a child in need. If our community comes together, we can make a difference and ensure that no child misses out because they don’t have a pencil case or calculator or any other essential item.”

Back-To-School supplies can be dropped off at Asda in Watford throughout August. Alternatively, contact Watford Salvation Army to arrange larger donations. Items will be sorted and distributed to families in need before the start of the new academic year in September.
