Celebrate Easter with Chelmsford Salvation Army

published on 31 Mar 2026

People in Chelmsford are being invited to celebrate Easter at The Salvation Army church in the city this week.

Events are already underway at the church on Baddow Road with a vibrant Art Exhibition open from 10am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and on Easter Sunday from 8am to 1pm. The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to engage with the Easter story through artistic expression, encouraging contemplation and conversation.

A range of special events are accompanying the exhibition throughout Holy Week including a Maundy Meal on Thursday. Family activity tables will be available during the exhibition on Good Friday. The celebrations culminate on Easter Sunday with a morning of community gathering and worship. Things get underway with a prayer breakfast at 8:15am while worship will be held at 10am.

This piece of work was created by Major Mike Stannett who put the exhibition together

Majors Allister and Kathy Versfeld lead The Salvation Army in Chelmsford.

Allister said: “These events are designed to welcome everyone – whether you are exploring faith, looking for a moment of reflection, or simply wanting to connect with others in the community. Easter is a time of hope, centred around the Lord Jesus Christ.”
