published on 24 Nov 2017

The Salvation Army in Birmingham is celebrating Christmas in the magnificent Symphony Hall with their ever-popular carol concerts on Sunday 10 December at 2.30pm and 6pm.

The Salvation Army has been inviting the Birmingham public to come and take part in its Christmas carol concert for many years at different venues around the city. 2017 is the 26th year in the Symphony Hall and the carol concert is performed twice to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy the celebration.

Major Adrian Allman, church leader of Birmingham Citadel Salvation Army said:

“This concert has been planned to appeal to all ages and includes the traditional nativity scene with a modern twist, Salvation Army choirs, brass bands, local school choirs, and The Salvation Army tambourine group. There will be lots of carols to sing and even a visit from Santa Claus. It's the perfect way to start celebrating Christmas as a family or with friends. We encourage people to have a day out in the amazing city of Birmingham, then celebrate Christmas with The Salvation Army.”

The Christmas carol concert will feature a cast of more than a hundred adults and children, with children from nine local school choirs singing their favourite Christmas songs. The 6pm concert will also have BSL sign language on stage for the whole performance. This year the concerts feature a rising star in The Salvation Army, 18-year-old singer Abigail Johnson from Peterborough.

Tickets can be ordered via The Salvation Army Birmingham Citadel website or by email Birmingham.citadel@salvationarmy.org.uk or by phone 07702 6508740 with no booking fees. Tickets are priced £15 with a limited number available at £12.

During the concerts there will be a charity appeal to support the social and community work of The Salvation Army in the UK. The whole amount given will be donated to the appeal.

The Salvation Army at Birmingham Citadel, 24  St. Chads Queensway B4 6HH, holds its services at 10.30am and 5pm every Sunday and everyone is welcome.
