9:45am Prayer Meeting
A chance to pray about real people and real issues at the start of the day. Occasionally we will meet earlier and have breakfast together.
In addition to this short time at the start of the day, we have two meetings/services on a Sunday, which differ in style and content. You are welcome to come along to either/both. See below for more details ...
10:30am Family-Friendly Worship Meeting (approx. 75-85 minutes)
More contemporary, more interactive
We like to think of Sunday morning church as 'Church to bring your friends to'. It's relaxed, welcoming, topical and - of course - it's followed by refreshments!
We start off together for about 25 minutes, then the children go off to Kids' Church to do some activities that have been organised with them in mind.
This year we have been exploring some of the characteristics of the local church ... and the people in it.
We also run 'Messy Church' once a quarter, and in the months when there is no Messy Church we hold our 'Sunday Xpress' all-age service which is especially suited to families with children. Check out our Facebook page for more details (www.facebook.com/kirkwallsalvationarmy).
Our meetings are always followed by refreshments, and once in a while we stay for lunch.
4:00pm Going Deeper (approx. 75 minutes)
More traditional, more reflective
In our afternoon previous meetings, our theme was 'Back to the Future'. We thought about the story and characters of the Old Testament and how they might help us in our lives in the present day.
The songs in this meeting might be a bit more traditional and the sermon tends to be longer and more in-depth than in the morning, but hopefully it is just as grounded in the real world.
This meeting is more reflective and suited to adults in particular.
