The Salvation Army – it’s a name familiar to just about everyone.

But, there is so much more to The Salvation Army than meets the eye!

In every community where you find The Salvation Army, you will discover a ministry that is unique.

And yet, the same mission drives us all: to actively reach out to others in the name of Jesus Christ, and to introduce each one to a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.

For more than a hundred and twenty years, The Salvation Army has been a vital part of the South Ayrshire evangelical and social community.

Although it’s mainly known for its social ministries, The Salvation Army is a thriving and relevant mainstream Christian Church.

You can find us at 59 John Street, Ayr KA8 0BS (formerly the Wallacetown Parish Church).

Everyone is welcome at our vibrant weekly worship services and our programmess which are relevant for people of all ages.

Our exciting Sunday morning worship starts at 10:45 am and is usually finished by 12:15 pm.

A highlight of family worship is a “coffee and fellowship” time immediately after the service, where you get to meet people and chat about things that matter to you most.

The preaching and worship is bible-based and you probably can't worship anywhere else where a brass band accompanies the singing every week!

Ayr Community Gospel Choir Rehearsal Schedule Spring/Summer 2018

We have had many requests to perform in Troon to make our concerts accessible for people from other areas of Ayrshire. Recently we have been approached by Boyd Tunnock, of the Tunnocks Tea Cakes, to see if the Choir could hold a concert in Troon in aid of the RNLI in which he has a deep interest. Bobby has decided to "kill two birds with the one stone" so to speak and have our Summer Concert this year in Troon Concert Hall.

Our guests will be The Salvation Army West of Scotland Youth Band. The 60 strong Brass Band who we shared the Port Glasgow event with last year. So this should be a very rousing concert. The choir will be performing on the stage and the Youth Band will take to the floor below us. If you google Troon Concert Hall you can see pictures of the venue.

All rehearsals will take place in the Worship Hall John Street on a Thursday at 7.30 unless otherwise stated. Please only use the front door in John Street.

There will be a rehearsal from 3.30pm to 5.00pm in the Concert Hall. This will be an important rehearsal. We have not performed here before so it will be good to get used to the acoustics.

This invitation is to members of the local community and beyond to come together and sing in a ‘Community Gospel Choir’ which is open to everyone aged 14 and above – you, your friends, local people whether you have a faith or not, can read music or not, or have never sung publicly before, all you need to bring along is your enthusiasm and voice, Bobby Irvine our Choir Master will do the rest. So why not take this opportunity to make some new friends who, like you, enjoy singing?

All new participants will need to register and for those of 14-18 years of age we will also require parental consent. For more information and to register online click here, or just come along to any rehearsal where a warm welcome awaits you.

There is a registration fee of £5.00 for the session, to cover the cost of music and other expenses.
