I do not think that anyone that was part of The Salvation Army 150 years ago realised how amazing were the programmes that Catherine Booth and her daughter-in-law, Florence, started when they both got involved in ministry amongst women and families. They were programmes that would change people’s lives, whole families’ circumstances and sometimes transform communities. The programmes focused on Worship, Fellowship, Education and Service.
150 years later some of the programmes may have changed; but I sit with the annual report from Adult and Families Ministries, and I am so pleased and proud to read about all that is happening in the different corps and divisions in the territory. There are groups and events that cater for every age, from babies to the elderly. The variety is just incredible.
I am very much aware that this work is not done by itself. Behind every group and programme there are wonderful leaders who, week after week, take time to prepare meetings, gatherings and events through spiritual and practical arrangements. They make people feel welcome and part of a fellowship.

WoW - Women of Worth Programme
The WoW – Women of Worth programme is a six-week resource to encourage and develop positive relationships. It can be used with any age group but particularly within parent and toddler and family groups. Many women have moved on from this to a Growing with God course.
Discussion and dialogue are encouraged both in relaxed and more structured ways. Through this women learn from the course content and from each other.
