Vision and Commitment Sunday Series

Vision and Commitment Series 2019

To help corps and centres continue to explore the theme Living Fruitfully as Disciples further, this four part series focuses on how the Early Church lived fruitfully, based on Acts 2:42-47.

While the Church in Acts wasn’t perfect, the way in which they lived out their discipleship can still be used as a helpful model for believers. The sessions explore how they were devoted to the teaching of the Word and prayer, to fellowship and unity, to reaching out to people’s practical needs and to praising God. Their effectiveness in ministry was blessed by God through not only numerical growth, but deepening of the believers’ faith and advancing into new places.

Each outline has group and prayer activities which can be adapted for different contexts (Sunday worship, midweek groups etc.), teaching content to help inform a sermon or small group and questions for discussion. Download the Youth cell focus on the theme

Vision and Commitment Series 2018

2018's discipleship series focuses on Six rhythms in the journey with Jesus. This explores Jesus as the model of discipleship and what can be learnt from him. The series can be used at any point throughout the year in the way that is most relevant for your setting, through your whole corps worship and/or individual group meetings.

Please download resources including sermon outlines, prayer ideas, small group material, interactive worship ideas, children and youth session and drama options based on the following themes:

'Putting first' (prioritising) - Jesus demonstrates obedience and priority in spending time in prayer with his Father, teaching us to do the same.

'Letting go' (sacrificing) - Jesus calls people to give up the things that are most dear to them to follow him.

'Opening up' (including) - Jesus demonstrates the importance of quality over quantity. He takes time to be with an individual or a small group.

'Getting together' (gathering) - Jesus gathered his disciples to teach and share with them in meals, equipping them, through this, to do his work after he left.

'Acting out'  - Jesus’ actions of servant leadership model the servanthood aspect of discipleship.

'Speaking up' (practising)(testifying) - Jesus breaks the religious, social and cultural conventions of his time to speak out on behalf of others.
