To mark our 150th anniversary Southport Salvation Army held a Christian festival in Southport town centre called ‘Paint the Town Red.’
From 11am to 4pm on 16th May the general public was treated to music from a massed brass band and choir, children’s activities including a bouncy castle, an exhibition about the history of The Salvation Army and free tea and coffee.
Founders William and Catherine Booth even made an appearance…
The day was a great success. Hundreds of Salvationists created a welcoming party atmosphere in Southport’s Town Hall Garden, inviting members of the public to join our 150th celebrations and hear the message of Jesus.
This year, our churches and centres are holding events in local communities across the country to mark our 150th anniversary. Find out more here
