Salvation Army to open new Leamington Spa charity shop

published on 18 Jan 2016

Final preparations are now underway for the opening of a brand new Salvation Army charity shop in Leamington Spa on Thursday 21st January at 136 The Parade. The shop’s team of staff and volunteers are extending an invitation to the local community to attend the special opening ceremony at 10:30am and be some of the first to get their hands on a bargain.

Area Manager for Salvation Army Trading Company, Sue Hindle commented: “The Leamington team is working extremely hard to make sure everything is in place for the opening on the 21st. People have been so generous and the stock so far is looking fantastic, so we’re looking forward to welcoming the community inside to find some real gems!”

Sue continued: “We’ve already got a fantastic local team in place but we’re always looking for extra shop volunteers to join the Leamington team and we’d like to encourage anybody who’s interested to pop in and talk to our friendly staff on opening day. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers, so if you think you can spare any time at all, from a few hours to a few days a week, please do get in touch.

“We’re also keen to encourage donations from the public, whether it’s clothes, shoes, accessories or homewares. We only ask that items are clean and in good condition.”

Profit from the sale of donated clothing contributes to the valuable social welfare work of The Salvation Army, including homelessness and addiction services, care for older people, help at emergency incidents, support for adult victims of human trafficking in England and Wales, a Family Tracing Service and much, much more. Over the last five years alone the Salvation Army Trading Company has donated over £35 million to the charity.
