This year our Sheffield Citadel Band is celebrating 135 years in the city and is holding a number of events to mark the occasion including a festival performance led by internationally renowned American musician William Himes on Saturday 14th May 2016.

United voices choir, made up of more than 100 vocalists from across Yorkshire, will be singing William’s compositions, and the Citadel band will also be playing his music.

Keith Wileman, Sheffield Citadel Bandmaster, said: “We are grateful for all the support we’ve received over the last 135 years from the people of Sheffield and our celebrations this year are a great opportunity to show our appreciation.

“We’re honoured that William Himes is joining us to help celebrate our 135th birthday. It’s a privilege for our band and songsters to be performing his music, and we’re excited that local people in Sheffield will have the opportunity to witness a performance led by such a gifted musician. It will be a wonderful evening of music and we’re keen to extend a warm welcome to the community and beyond.”

Our Sheffield Citadel, on Psalter Lane is a busy church and community centre which has been supporting local people for 135 years.
