Papa John's Pizza Entrepreneur John Schnatter offers words of wisdom to residents of Springfield Lodge Lifehouse

Pizza entrepreneur and founder of Papa John's, John Schnatter, visited Springfield Lodge today to give tips to young residents on how their could achieve their goals and chase their dreams.

John, who also provided pizza to staff and residents of Springfield Lodge, said: “We were delighted that we were invited to The Salvation Army’s Lifehouse and had the opportunity to speak to the young people there. It was a great occasion for us to talk about business and offer words of wisdom to the youngsters at Southwark.”

Ivan Congreve, Centre Manager of Springfield Lodge, commented: “We are so pleased that John and his team were able to make time to speak to the young people at our Lifehouse. We aim to inspire the young people who stay here to change their lives for the better, and everyone here felt really motivated by John’s  talk. We look forward to working with the Papa John’s team in the future and we would also like to say thank you for the delicious pizzas they delivered!”

The Salvation Army’s Springfield Lodge Lifehouse provides accommodation and support to vulnerable young people in south London to enable them to change their lives for the better.  Residents will also have access to training, and a range of vocational and practical life skills courses to help them overcome the causes of homelessness.

John Schnatter started selling pizza’s in 1983 from the broom closet in his father’s tavern, delivering pizza out of the back of the bar. Now, Papa John’s boasts of more than 4,000 restaurants in 34 countries and today John and his Executive Leadership Team from the United States were in the UK as part of a whistle stop tour to celebrate the 1000th international store.  

Papa John’s Vice President, Tony Thompson, who sits on The Salvation Army’s USA Advisory Board, spoke to the young crowd about his work with the charity, while John gave an inspirational speech about the history and success of Papa John’s and encouraged everyone to chase their dreams and offered tips on how to achieve their goals.
