Finding People

I think I am the person sought. What next?

We understand that receiving our correspondence can be unexpected, and you might feel unsure about being in touch with someone after being out of contact.

Your caseworker will help you to confirm whether you are the person we are searching for and give you the opportunity to learn more about identity of the person sought, and the reasons they gave for making the application.

If you then wish to be in touch with your relative, your caseworker will explain some options.  If you have any hesitation about being in direct contact in the first instance, we could facilitate this by sending letters between you and your relative via our office, while keeping your respective details confidential. We are happy to assist in this way until you are ready to share more directly or form a decision for the way forward.

If, for any reason, you would prefer not to have contact with your relative, please do let us know, so that we can discontinue our search, and inform them of your decision. Your wishes are very important to us and will be respected.

In some cases, our correspondence may have been forwarded to you without our being informed of your address. If this is the case, and you wish us to know how to reach you, please do include your contact details in your response.
