Australian theatre star Silvie Paladino is set to dazzle Birmingham on Friday 2 June and Saturday 3 June 2017 in two concerts.   The singer will appear at Birmingham Citadel Salvation Army (24 St Chads Queensway, Birmingham B4 6HH) on the Friday, before concluding her tour of the UK with a finale at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on Saturday 3 June.    Australian performer, Silvie Paladino has established herself as one of Australia’s most versatile and talented entertainers, taking the role of Eponine in Les Misérables aged only 18 and touring Australia and New Zealand, also reprising this role in London’s West End.       Major Adrian Allman, Salvation Army church leader at Birmingham Citadel said: “Silvie Paladino will entertain the audience with her singing, but that is not her sole purpose. Since its very beginnings, music has been an important part of The Salvation Army’s identity and Silvie will be using her musical talents to not only raise awareness of the great work carried out by The Salvation Army but to introduce people to issues of faith. We would encourage the people of Birmingham to join us for this musical treat.”   In 1997, Silvie returned to the show in London to perform the role of Fantine for a successful two-year season. Not only has Silvie earned many Australasian theatre credits, she has also featured at special events, such as the worldwide television broadcast of the Rugby League Grand Final, the Australian Football League Grand Final, Boxing Day Cricket Test match and a concert in Beijing as part of the 2008 Olympics. Most recently, she performed at the opening ceremony for the 2013 Asia Pacific Special Olympic Games.   The Salvation Army’s Assistant Director of Music and Creative of Arts, Paul Sharman, who is co-ordinating the tour from the UK, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Silvie to the UK. While The Salvation Army is known for its music-making and work with marginalised and vulnerable people in this country, their visit will also raise awareness of The Salvation Army and its community work and provide encouragement to local churches and people.”     Also appearing with Silvie Paladino on Friday will be the Birmingham Citadel Songsters, one of the leading Salvation Army Choirs in the United Kingdom. Tickets for this show are available from The Salvation Army for £10 (plus £1 admin fee).
