The Salvation Army’s Trading Company (SATCoL) has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2021 Charity Retail Association awards.

SATCoL, which runs over 220 charity shops and donation centres in the UK on behalf of The Salvation Army, has been nominated in the ‘Outstanding Charity Retailer’ and ‘Most Supportive Chief Executive’ categories.

The awards recognise excellence in the industry and the ‘motivation of everyone to think outside the box and be innovative in creating the future of charity retail’.

SATCoL’s record-breaking sales, in what has been a difficult year for retail, were recognised in the shortlisting, alongside new training initiatives and colleague wellbeing programmes. Trevor Caffull, Managing Director of SATCoL, has spearheaded these successes and has been recognised by the CRA awarding body as a result.

In response to the nomination, Mr Caffull said: “Both these award shortlists are a testament to the dedication, hard work and determination of the great team we have at SATCoL. It is an understatement to say how difficult the past year has been and yet, all our team, including our wonderful volunteers, continue to amaze and inspire me.”

Commenting on sales performance, he added: “My sincere thanks go to our customers and donors who have supported us through these difficult times, we are extremely grateful. I will never cease to express my deepest thanks to every single colleague, including those working in a supportive background role, who in any number of ways helped to make these results possible.

“We have some way to go, but the sales we have achieved supports our recovery and our ability to raise funds for the important work of The Salvation Army.”

The winners of all CRA awards will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday evening (9 September).
