The UK Government voted against extending the free school meal provision, instigated by footballer Marcus Rashford.

We share Marcus Rashford’s disappointment that free school meals will not be extended. At The Salvation Army we see first-hand how so many families are struggling to make ends meet, from desperate mums at our foodbanks who can’t buy baby milk to summer clubs where we are providing lunch for children to ensure they get a decent meal. Thousands of families are struggling and children are going without the basics which can include a decent meal at lunchtime.
