Listen to survivor voices say Salvation Army and anti-slavery groups

published on 21 Oct 2021

We need to listen to survivors, says The Salvation Army, which is joining forces with more than 17 other UK anti-slavery charities in the UK to campaign on this issue.

The Coalition To Stop Slavery is the first time UK charities have combined to raise awareness of this heinous crime. The call to action this October is for survivor voices to be put centre stage.

The key to ridding the world of the scourge of modern slavery is everyone working together. We can’t overestimate the importance of so many anti-slavery charities joining up for this year’s Anti-Slavery day and hope that our combined voices will really cut through to raise awareness.

The Salvation Army’s Director of Anti Trafficking and Modern Slavery Kathy Betteridge said:

“The key to ridding the world of the scourge of modern slavery is everyone working together. We can’t overestimate the importance of so many anti-slavery charities joining up for this year’s Anti-Slavery day and hope that our combined voices will really cut through to raise awareness.

“We also need the public, business and governments across the world to work together and to listen to what survivors of slavery tell us about what will help them and protect others from having the same terrible experiences.

“We’re excited to join with the Coalition To Stop Slavery and look forward to building on this campaign in future months.”
