Children and staff at the Failsworth Salvation Army Out Of School club are celebrating after receiving the highest, ‘Outstanding’ rating by the education inspectorate, Ofsted.

The centre, which provides before and after school sessions for children aged three to 11 years-old has passed all of Ofsted’s quality and standards measurements with flying colours and the final inspection report says that ‘children thrive and are extremely happy in this outstanding out-of-school provision.’

Ofsted visited the Salvation Army-run service in October to review a number of its procedures and practices; including how well the centre was managed, the range of activities on offer for the children, standards of behaviour among the children and how well the club communicated with parents.

The inspector finds that the club’s manager, Sarah Brown leads her team with ‘inspiring practice and admirable enthusiasm’ and that staff; ‘share the same vision and ethos for the club.’

While the happy children at Failsworth are thriving in what Ofsted describes as its ‘nurturing, homely environment.’

Childcare Manager of Failsworth Out of School, Sarah Brown said:

“We’re all over the moon to get this Outstanding rating from Ofsted. This is such a great place to work, the kids are a joy and I have a lovely team who work so hard to make it that way.

“It’s a real group effort; everyone plays their part —including parents and carers — and it’s really paid off as the Ofsted inspector has obviously seen how special Failsworth is too.”

Failsworth Salvation Army Out of School Club is situated at 572 Oldham Road, M35 9DQ and is open on weekdays during school term time from 7.30 to 9am and again from 3.20 to 6pm.
