London’s longest running ethical Christmas market is back on Oxford Street

Fair Christmas Fayre, now in its ninth year, will take place on Saturday 10th December at Regent Hall Salvation Army.

The Fayre will include 30 unique stalls selling eco-friendly, Fairtrade, upcycled, recycled and charity gifts as well as fashion. Fair Christmas Fayre gives shoppers a chance to create a Christmas for themselves that is fair for the world’s poorest people and the planet.

Fair Christmas Fayre is being held on a popular Saturday for Christmas shoppers at The Salvation Army on Oxford Street, just a few metres west of Oxford Circus. The Fayre is open from 11am-6pm and provides an ethical alternative to high street shopping in the run up to Christmas.

Amongst the products on sale from ethical suppliers and producers will be a range of organic fashion items, contemporary jewellery and vegan friendly knitwear by the store Sanchos Dress. One of the products they will have available at the Fayre is the incredibly soft Granite Marble Scarf for Sustainability. The scarf which is available in a range of colours is handmade in Ethiopia for a fair wage and makes a great gift priced at just £25 each.

Kalkidan Legesse, one of the founders of Sanchos Dress said: “When we heard about the Fair Christmas Fayre we really wanted to be there.  It’s great to be part of something that is entirely devoted to ethical trade and to join with so many ethical retailers offering the public a perfect opportunity to do all their Christmas shopping in one place, knowing that all those responsible for producing the goods have received a fair wage. When selecting items for our shop and website we are driven by sourcing high quality garments as well as unique designs with stories that make excellent gifts.”

Organiser Hayley Still from The Salvation Army International Projects Office said: “We are delighted to be organising Fair Christmas Fayre this year, once again bringing together a rich variety of ethical traders selling eco-friendly, fairtrade and recycled gifts and fashion. The Fayre is a great opportunity for shoppers to buy some high quality Christmas goodies, whilst also making a difference to the lives of others.”   Regent Hall Salvation Army can be found at 275 Oxford Street, London W1C 2DJ Fair Christmas Fayre
