International Development Week

International Development Week is an opportunity to explore, celebrate and support The Salvation Army's work tackling poverty and injustice around the world.

International Development Week is 14 - 20 October 2023.

The theme this year is 'Global Community'.

What does it mean to be community? How can church be an example of community at its best – loving, serving, inclusive, generous?

We have created a set of resources to help you and your community to explore this theme.

During ID Week 2022 we celebrated 25 years of International Development UK with a special edition of our Develop magazine and a photo exhibition at International Headquarters. We also held a virtual quiz night, created resources for guided prayer and International Development Sunday, and shared videos from our colleagues around the world reading the Bible verses that motivate them.

During ID Week 2021 we had daily challenges on social media, a virtual quiz night, special episodes of the Develop podcast, a dedicated meeting plan for International Development Sunday and a brand-new song written by Music and Creative Arts, "God's Love is Enough"!

2020 was the first year that International Development had a week in the Territorial Calendar.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our inaugural ID Week was fully online. Through our Develop podcast, we explored our various areas of work in seven special episodes. Listen to the Develop podcast on Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
