Good neighbours & befriending

Reaching out to serve lonely, isolated, struggling members of the local community. Our churches offer a range of schemes to help older people who may need support in their area.

Many people have no one visiting them... I do

Some offer a volunteer-led befriending service where people visit an older person once or twice a week to spend quality time with them.

This is sometimes known as a Good Neighbour project and is a way of promoting independent living, tackling isolation, promoting a healthier lifestyle and helping to build confidence.

At one of our churches there is a shopping service, where food is purchased, brought to the older person's house and then put away for them. Others provide gardening services or visits to people who have just left hospital. This is all a way of supporting the older people in our communities, combatting loneliness and showing them we care.
