Red Shield Enterprises
Training the homeless and unemployed for work
Red Shield Enterprises is a social enterprise division of The Salvation Army. It is committed to delivering professional electrical services to private, public and third sector organisations.
We use our profits to train people experiencing homelessness and unemployment to be Portable Appliance Testers (PAT). This starts with an initial period of work experience, which could lead to a paid traineeship and a recognised industry qualification.
Red Shield Enterprises is a social enterprise set up by The Salvation Army in order to:
- Provide high quality, comprehensive electrical services to a wide client base, delivered by a team of NICEIC-approved engineers.
- We offer services at commercial and residential premises across the UK. We hold a number of contracts, both private and in the third sector. We are in the process of expanding.
- Deliver PAT testing training, qualifications and experience to people who may not otherwise have that opportunity. We want to help people facing barriers to work - including past or present homelessness - to reach their full potential and improve their quality of life.
- Provide additional support and find help for people struggling with addiction, housing or child-care issues.
Our scheme is designed to help people who are unemployed and homeless become job-ready and get into employment.
We offer opportunities for development and training in a supportive, authentic working environment. All profits are reinvested into helping others undergo training, thereby equipping more people with skills that will enhance their ability to return to the work place.
By working on sites, attending employability sessions and completing online courses, we get to the heart of the issues that matter to our trainees.
We offer tailored support to help people become job-ready
