Doughnut Day celebrations to help the most vulnerable people in Dublin

published on 12 Jun 2015

In celebration of Doughnut Day, June 5th 2015, The Natural Bakery has donated a percentage of the day’s doughnuts proceeds to The Salvation Army.

Launching only two years ago, The Natural Bakery has six stores across Dublin city and frequently recognised for its community and charity affiliations.

The Doughnut Day initiative was based on the triumphant generosity of The Salvation Army during World War 1, distributed doughnuts to soldiers as a means of comfort and enjoyment. It was a gesture so widely appreciated, that our workers became known as the ‘donut dollies’, and the tale of kindness is still widely remembered today.

Doughnut Day was established as a commemoration of our valiant workers, and today we are still working actively across 126 countries across the globe striving to help those in need.

With a tremendous reception from the local community, The Natural Bakery presented Major Stuart Dicker with a cheque of €300.00 as a donation from their doughnut sales on Thursday, 11th of June, at their Kilmainham branch. They thanked their customers and friends for their generosity and for supporting their campaign.
