RESOURCE PACKS
We have a whole load of free resource packs available to help people engage with issues of poverty and injustice. If you are interested in any of this material then please contact us on +44 (0)20 7367 4777 or email us at id@salvationarmy.org.uk
The following Resource Packs all contain a Flyer/Poster and either an interactive DVD-Rom or CD-Rom. Many of the resources are also available to download.
GENERATION
1.4 billion people in our world live on less than $1.25 a day - about 80 pence. That's 1.4 billion people who are being held back due to a lack of opportunities, support and investment. We need to shift the balance. Support The Salvation Army's GENERATION programme by giving money to help people access small loans, grants and skills training to help the poorest people get on their feet and work their own way out of poverty.
EARTH
There is just one Earth that we all have to live on. Unfortunately, if everybody in the world lived in the same way that we do in the UK and other high-income countries, we would need three planets to support us. Our climate is changing; it is due to our actions and the poorest people in our world are already suffering as a result. Our EARTH resource pack will show you what we can all do to LOVE PEOPLE and LOVE THE EARTH.
A CRY IN THE DARKNESS
There are 33 million people living with HIV/Aids worldwide, and 2 million of those are children. The Salvation Army is supporting people infected or affected by HIV/Aids all over the world, providing them with the care, support and treatment that they need. There is so much darkness, but through our resource DVD-Rom A CRY IN THE DARKNESS you can find out how to SHINE LIGHT, GIVE LIGHT AND SHOUT LIGHT.
EMBRACE
Every child is precious. Every child needs to be embraced by love and care. EMBRACE is a way of giving hope and a future to our world’s most vulnerable children. Our EMBRACE resource pack gives you everything you need to know about how you can help The Salvation Army support children to a better future.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Every minute of every day another man, woman or child is trafficked across a border into a life of exploitation. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, a horrendous injustice that enslaves over 2.5 million people every year. You can help The Salvation Army put an end to this injustice by raising awareness, raising funds and raising your voice.
WATERSHED
Over one billion people around the world do not have access to clean, safe water. As a result, over 4,000 children die every day from water-related diseases. However, The Salvation Army is responding and has provided water to thousands of people all over the world. Our WATERSHED resource is full of ideas and resources to help you Save Water and Save Lives.
OTHER RESOURCES
We also have a load of other resources that might be of use or interest to you:
DEVELOP Magazine
Develop is our postal newsletter which is sent out to all of our supporters twice a year. It is full of articles, stories and photos of the work that The Salvation Army is doing all around the world supporting people to lift themselves out of poverty. If you would like to be added to our mailing list then please contact us (see above for contact information).
JUST GIFTS
How many times have you given or received a present that you didn’t want? How often do we buy a gift for someone just because we have to, without too much thought into exactly we buy? These are just gifts, but what if you could give a child who has been trafficked the chance to be a child again, or provide a family with clean water for life? These are more than just gifts, these are JUST GIFTS. To order a catalogue contact us (see above).
SALvageID
Have you got a new mobile phone recently? What did you do with your old one? There are currently 74 million mobile phones in circulation in the UK – if all of those were recycled when they were finished with, it could provide £296 million worth of aid. You can help support our work by donating your old phones to the SALVageID scheme or holding a collection. Contact us to order free envelopes and posters.
H2P4 Our World
We live in a big, beautiful world with big problems. Billions of people live in poverty all around the world. If you try and picture all these people and all the need then it is easy to feel powerless - how can we possibly make anything more than a dent in these global problems? Sometimes the only thing that we can do to respond to all of the injustices in our world is to get on our knees. You see, although the problems are huge, our God is bigger. Even better than that, he is a God who cares about those living in poverty, and he wants us to care about those people too. H2P4 (how 2 pray 4) is a new range of titles from ALOVE UK and 24/7SA. These titles are designed to get you thinking about prayer. H2p4 Our World has been produced by SAID (UK) in conjunction with ALOVE UK to engage young people in how to pray about global issues and how to put those prayers into action. Visit www.salvationarmy.org.uk/h2p4ourworld to find out more.
