Response to 'Making Every Contact Count Report' on homelessness

 
 

A Salvation Army Spokesperson said: "We welcome any initiative that helps prevent homelessness. Through our numerous churches and social centres we provide support for vulnerable people including young people and former offenders on a daily basis and we welcome the commitment to earlier support for those groups in the strategy.

"A single organisation however cannot solve the problem alone and we have always recognised the importance of partnership working. The Salvation Army remains committed to working in partnerships and strategically with Local Authorities throughout the UK and hope that, as a culture, we will start viewing people who are 'homeless' as people who have a contribution to make in our society.

"We look forward to working with Government and others in the process to define the new homelessness ‘Gold Standard’ for all local services outlined in the strategy."
