If you know of someone who needs some support in the cold weather, please contact your nearest Salvation Army centre.

Here are a few of our top tips for keeping safe in the cold weather....

1. Have ready a small emergency kit in your home and in your car:

  • A battery radio, with local radio stations tuned in, and battery torch - don't forget spare batteries
  • A first aid kit
  • Bottled water and long-life, ready-to-eat food, with a can opener if needed
  • Toiletries and prescription medication
  • A blanket and extra jumpers
  • Jump Leads

2. Keep a stiff broom and a shovel near your front door in case the path needs to be cleared

3. Find out more and how you can help others keep safe in your community via Metoffice.gov Get Ready For Winter.
